For the love of cars

Wednesday, 19th November 2014

Men and their machines. There has been an unbreakable bond between them for centuries. Since before the first car was born, men have spent countless hours talking about, playing with, fixing up and maintaining these machines. Of course, there are many women car/ bike enthusiasts out there too! Whether it be a car, motorcycle, truck, boat, plane or even a go cart- we love our toys. So it makes sense that these common topics of conversation are good ice breakers and even foundations for friendship we build. There are plenty of studies that show that social engagement has a direct correlation with mental health benefits. The love for motor vehicles can be exactly the thing to keep you happy and connected.  Here’s why:

Do what makes you happy.

Sometimes it can be hard to focus on the things that make us happy due to work, family and other commitments. It’s important to put time aside for yourself and recharge. Doing the things that you love and enjoy can Increase in serotonin levels in the brain. This not only helps for those suffering mental illnesses, but can improve anyone’s general state of well being.

Ownership and pride

Not much beats the feeling of a long ride on a nice summer day, our vehicles give us even more than just that. Sometimes, when riding just isn’t achievable, we do the next best thing. Fix, maintain, wash, polish and wax. Show your cars and bikes the love they deserve and feel proud for the results you achieve.

Relationship building

It doesn’t always have to be a solitary activity. Share it with those around you.

Community groups and Bonding

You can find new friendships, support, tips and ideas in a community of people who share the same passion. Here are some ideas.

  • Find a local venue that holds regular events
  • Online forums
  • Online Facebook groups
  • Local Events calendar and attend show ‘n’ Shines, charity rides, etc.
Get together with your mates and share your skills, techniques and products. They may have that buffer you wanted to try out! Or better yet, sit and watch them do all the hard work. It can be hard to organise big BBQ gatherings or outings, especially in family groups. Sharing this time together can make you sure you get your work done without having to be alone.
It doesn’t just have to be your mates. Most of us learned what we know from our father. As youngsters, we loved to sit and watch our dads working on the car, helping by passing the wrong tools and putting hand prints on the newly washed paint!

Sometimes we all need a little time out. Taking some time away for yourself helps increase your Oxytocin, Endorphins, Dopamine and Serotonin levels- All the chemicals in our brains which make us happy! Whether we need to escape from work or the family, nothing beats spending hours in the garage doing some hard work. Except maybe the ride afterwards.

We believe that these social engagements are important to maintain a happy and fulfilled life. Whether you only get to ride/drive once a month or every day- It’s important to cultivate all of the benefits of having your motor vehicle. This is why California Custom Products Australia Pty Ltd have engaged with the local community. We want to share these opportunities with our customers! If you have an event or just simply want to share your pride and joy with us, Send us pictures to our Facebook page! We would love to share them.
